The score was I—l at full time. In the sixth minute of extra time, which was punctuated by the shouts of 60,000 Italians and the cheers of 7,000 Czechs, Schiavio, the Italian, scored the decisive goal.
The Italian and the Fascist militia had hard work in keeping order, the Czechs protesting that it was an unfair goal and the Italians wildly cheering their side. Hand-to-hand fighting broke out all over the stadium.
The ground was hard as iron and the heat intense. Signor Mussolini was cheered as loudly as anybody when Italy scored their winning goal. Pi incesses Alafaltla and IVlaria, the King’s daughters, with the Dukes of Aosta and Spoletto, the King’s nephews, shared the general excitement.
