SYDNEY, July 12.

The semi-finals of the New South Wales State Amateur Golf Championship were played to-day in ideal weather. Ferrier defeated Hattei sley at the 39th hole, and Radcliffe defeated Thompson four and three. The Ferrier-Hattersley match was one of the hardest in the history of State golf? The pair turned for home all square, both doing approximately 37, or two over par. Ferrier’s putter was his best friend over the last nine holes. Throughout the match there was neyer more than two holes between them. Hattersley had a little the worse of the luck.

H. Parker, of Sydney, on a handicap of IS, with an aggregate of three up for 36 holes, won the Lucifer Society’s Empire trophy, at Walton Heath. B. Higgins, of Toronto, on a handicap of six, with one up, was second.

In the final of the French women’s eolf championship at Le Touquet, Miss Pam Barton defeated Mdlle. Delavigne, 11-9. Miss Barton played brilliantly, and was five up at the end of nine holes, in 37, two under par. She finished the first round eight up, coming home in 39, which is four over pai. M’dilo. Lavigne struggled "finely in the second round, but was outclassed. TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA.

It is understood that the Royal and Ancient Golf Club has accepted an invitation to send an amateur team for tho Melbourne Centenary. It will include the best players available, with i rebablv Michael Scott as captain. The team will sail by the Oxford on September 15.
