REEFTON NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, June 27. Miss M. Meibom of the staff of Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer, •who has been on holiday in Reefton, returned yesterday. Mr. E. Lawn, who is spending a holiday in Reefton, returns to Wellington on Saturday morning. Mr Thompson, of Big River, is visiting Wellington. Fireman' S. Newcombe was entertained by the members of the Reefton Volunteer Fire Brigade at a social evening at the Fire Station on Monday night, in honour of his recent marriage and was presented with a dinner and tea service. Capt. Coxall in making the presentation referred to the excellent service rendered by Mr. Newcombe and wished Mr. and Mrs. Newcombe health and happiness. A happj’ evening was spent in song and story and a lengthy toast list honoured. Items were given by Messrs Griffin, Lockington and Lewis and the gathering concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Mr. James Noble is confined to his room with influenza. The attendance at the local school is being affected by influenza.
