N.Z. COAST SOUNDINGS
AUCKLAND, June 26, The need for urgency in the checking of soundings on the New Zealand coast, was emphasised by Mr. E. H. Davis, at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board, upon the reading of a communication from the Minister of Marine, Mr. Cobbe, to the effect that the proposed survey would not be made for another two years. The Minister stated that the New Zealand Government had been in communication with the British Government for a considerable time over the re-survey of the New Zealand coast. The position how arrived at was that the Imperial surveying ship would be available for New Zealand, toward the end of 1936. The British Government would find the greater part of the cost. .The urgency of the work was appreciated, and the provision of , to. meet expenditure would be brought before Parliament.
