[BY CABLE PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, June 9. In the Davis Cup, Turnbull defeated Yamagishi 6/4, 7/5, 9/7; Fujikura defeated McGrath 6/4, 5/7, 8/6. At Paris, Borotra and Brugnon (France) defeated Von Cramm and Denker (Germany) 5/7, 6/2, 6/4, 10/8. Czecho-Slovakia eliminated New Zealand when Hecht defeated Andrews 6/1 6/1, 6/0. The Czechs meet Italy in the next Davis Cup round. Menzel defeated Malfroy 6/2, 6/0, 6/1. Menzel fought each point, and gave Malfroy no opportunity. Malfroy was unlucky in many of his returns, for he won occasional games, playing Menzels backhand and going up to the net. Andrews was tired and nervous. He overlobbed, and never won a service. Hecht revealed a capacity for exploiting his opponent’s weaknesses. GERMANY DEFEATS FRANCE. (Received Juno 11. 10 a.m.) PARIS, June 10. Merlin defeated Nourney 6/4, 7/5, 6/2. Cramm defeated Boussus 6/1, 6/0, 0/6, 6/4. France is eliminated. Germany meets Australia in the semi-final of the European zone.
