REEFTON NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, June 11. Rev. W. Bell, vicar of St. Stephen’s Church, Reeftop, who has been visiting Nelson, has returned. A Keystone boring plant is located on an area of ground at Soldiers’ Flat testing the locality for the purpose of linding out its suitability for dredging purposes. On Sunday an aeroplane passed over Reefton about 12.30 p.m., and as the day was brilliantly sunny and the visibility excellent, residents had a line view of the machine, which was Hying very high. On Sunday, at the Reefton Race-, course, in beautiful weather for the game, Waratah Junior met Blackspoint at Rugby football. The game was evenly contested, and resulted in a draw, the scores being three all. Ikamatua senior were to travel to Reet'ton to play the Star team, but did not arrive. Waratah senior were again matched against Blackspoint, and this game also ended in a draw, neither side scoring. Waratah had the decided advantage in weight, but Blacksjoint made up for this by their smart handling and good work in the scrums and in the pack. The game was tight, and play centred mostly in the 25’s, very little mid-lield work being indulged in. Waratah backs handled well, and several nice displays of passing were seen, the ball travelling almost the width' of the field, but tine by Blackspoint frustrated the Waratahs’ effort to score. Just before half time Miller, of Blackspoint, who was within three yards of scoring, was brought down and forced to retire with a badly injured wrist, being replaced by J. Sara. In the second half, Blackspoint with the bright sun in their faces, were badly handicapped, but with their combination and willing work held Waratahs, who made persistent efforts to score, but failed.
