TASMANIAN ELECTIONS
GOVT. MAJORITY I.OWERHII. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] HOBART. June 10. There probably will be many new faces in the Tasmanian Parliament as the outcome of yesterday’s general election. Hie complete returns of which will not- be known for several days. The National Government, now led by Sir Waller Lee. which has been the only Government which has retained office during the depression in Australia, is likely io have a close call on this occasion. The Labour Party has won seats in Bass, Dennison and Frcnkiin. It is not expected that the Government will have a majority of mote than two. and it nitty even be a. tie. All of the Ministers, except Mr. E. Hobbs, honorary Minister, are. safe. The candidates numbered 77. of whom H were. Nationalists; 27 were Fedor.il Labour candidates, the latter being already heavily defeated, while there were seven Independents.
