Eight lives were lost, and 500 persons were rendered homeless, and it is estimated that 1,500,000 dollars property damage was caused by a hurricane, which swept San Salvador yesterday. The Pan-American Airways reported that martial law was declared, as the result of complete collapse of communication facilities, light and power lines. THUNDERCLAP’S VICTIMS CALCUTTA, June 8. A severe thunderclap was responsible for the deaths of three coolies and injuries to two others at Madras yesterday. Fifteen men were excavating a deep sandpit, when a thunderclap shook the ground, some men being overwhelmed by about 40 tons of ea rth.
