The Mayor (Mr J. W. Greenslade) will leave for Wellington on Tuesday, to attend a meeting of the Dominion Municipal Executive.

Constable J. L. Patterson left, this morning, for Otira, to relieve Constable Southworth, who leaves to-day, on a visit to Christchurch.

At Cambridge University, the degree of Doctor of Laws, was conferred on Mr Neville Chamberlain. A similar honour was conferred on his brother, Sir Austin, in 1920, and his father in 1894. —Official Wireless.
The King of Siam, who underwent an operation in a London nursing home for the removal of a cataract, is progressing well, and will probably be able to leave the nursing home in about a week. —Official Wireless.

Mr F. W. Platts, S.M., Thames (listrict, has had a further extension of his term till September 30, when he definitely retires. It is understood that Mr J. H. Luxford, the present Judge in Samoa, will succeed him. — Press Assn.
A Sydney cablegram stated'that the Rev. P. W. Stephenson M.A.. 8.D.. has been appointed headmaster of Trinity Grammar School, Summer Hill and Strathfield, in succession to the Rev. Canon Hilliard, who will leave towards the end of the year to_J;ake up his duties as Bishop of Nels*bn.
