BOROUGH STREETS.

[TO THE EDITOR.] Sir,—l wish to draw the attention of the Borough Engineer, through your columns, to what can only bo termed “the disgraceful state” of sections of Albert and Turamaha Street-:, particularly the former. The surface of that section of Albert Street, from the Mackay Street intersection to the Guinness Street intersection, is badly broken, and there are potholes galore, to shake the life out of the cars of those motorists, who care to use the section. The pity of it is, the street has been in a bad way for such a longtime, and no effort, seems to have been made to ease the lot of the light-car or lorry owner, who may, perforce, have to use the street. Perhaps it. is considered that., as there is such a small volume of traffic on the road, repairs can be postponed indefinitely, but a trip over the section in a light car will convince any Doubting Thomases, and the cause of the small volume of traffic, is the Borough lais-sez-faire attitude as regards mantaining the road. The bad section of Turamaha Street I referred to is a continual series of bumps for about. 101) yards, and as the bumps seem to be all on one side, there are fewvery few motorists who keep to their correct side here. Hoping the Borough Engineer will hike a drive—that will be enough—over the sections I have mentioned. I am etc., “BUMPER.”
