Store Sheep: An uneven sale o! lambs, with a. tendency to firm. There was a. particularly keen sale of ewes, old ewes in cases being 3/- to 4/- a head better than at last week. A line of 1(100 station wethers sold at from 18/11 to 10/3, ordinary 16/- to 17/10, inferior 13/- to 15/-, medium wether 15/3 to 16/11, medium m.s. 15/- to 16/-, ordinary 13/- to 14/9, inferior 9/9 to 12/6, medium six and eighttooth lialfbred ewes to 22/6, plain six and eight-tooth lialfbred 14/2 to 16/9, medium four and six-tooth Romney to j!3/-, medium six and eight-tooth Romney 19/6 to 20/4, ordinary six and eight-tooth Romney 16/6 to 18/6, plain six and eight-tooth Romney 14/- to 16/-, ordinary s.m. 15/6 to 17/-, sound and failing mouth 13/- to 14/9, inferior and aged 7/3 to 12/6, forward four and six-tootli half bred wethers 20/- to 22/-, medium four and six-tooth halfbred wethers 17/- to 19/9. Fat Lambs: 3000 entered, and a good sale at late rates. Extra prime heavy to 28/7, prime 14/6 to 27/1, prime medium 21/6 to 24/1, light 16/to 21/-.
Fat Sheep: A slightly smaller yarding and an advance of. a. shilling to 1/6 in values. Extra prime heavy wethers to 29/4, prime heavy 25/6 to 27/-, prime medium weights 21/6 to 25/-, ordinary quality 19/- to 22/-, light 15/- to 18/-, prime ewes to 22/10, medium weight prime 19/6 to 21/-, light ordinary 12/- to 19/-. Fat Cattle: 700 entered, and a dragging sale, with values down by 10/- a head. Specially good youngbeef made to 24/- per lOOlbs, prime from 19/- to 22/-, heavy 16/- to 17/-, secondary 13/- to 16/-, and inferior and rough down to 12/-. Extra prime heavy steers to £ll/7/6, prime heavy £7 to £B/15/-, meduim weight prime £6 to £7/5/-, ordinary £4 to £5 10/-, light to £3/15/-, extra prime heifers to £7/17/6, prime £4/5/- to £6/10/-, ordinary £2/15/- to £3 15/-, light to £2/10/-, extra prime cows to £7/12/6, prime £3/10/- to £5/12/6, ordinary £2/5/- to £3, rough and aged to £2. Store Cattle: A small entry of indifferent class. Well bred two and threc-year steers sold at £5/5/6. Fat Pigs: A slightly better demand for baconers. Porkers were unchanged'. A few pigs were bought for export. Choppers £2 to £46/-, baconers 45/6 to 55/6, heavy baconers £2/19/6 to £3/9/6, average price per lb 4?.d to sd. Porkers 25/- to 30/6, heavy porkers 32/6 to 35/6, average price per lb 44d to sd. Store Pigs: A heavy entry and easing in prices. Weaners 5/- to 7/6, slips 7/- to 9/-, stores 9/- to 16/-, extra good to 20/-.

WAITAHU WASH-UP DUNEDIN, May 15. The Wait’ahu wash-up ]w;is 20oz. 9dwt. for ten days’ sluicing. WORKSOP EXTENDED DREDGE. The contractors building the dredge for the Worksop Extended Co. report that the engine is now being assembled, and that it is hoped to have a trial run on Saturday next. BELL— KI LGOUR COMPAN Y
The secretary of the Bell-Kilgour Gold. Mining Co. Ltd. advises receipt of report from the manager, dated May 12, which reads as follows: —- Main Face: Not 3 West Cross Cut was advanced 14ft. on a rising floor values of fine gold were irregular. N. E. Block timbering old workings and saved fair gold. S.E. Block No. 1 secured a little gold in taking out panel near old workings. S.E. Block No. 3 East Cross Cut drove 29ft with timber, values first 24ft. low, with improvement last sfl. No. 3 West Cross Cut drove 171'; through loose ground, values low. have now turned north, a little water is making- with a change from a clay to a sandstone "floor'' last, prospects showed better gold.
BELL II DOPE R CROMWELL Report for the week ending Mav 11.: — No. 1 Tunnel Workings: Work' in this section has proceeded smoothly for the period. Block N has now been blocked out. 't'he North Western section of Block 'l' has also nearly been .mined except for a 4ft strip against, the Main Drive, 'rhe last ptjnel of Block L has now been started on. When these two last pieces are taken cut that length of the main drive will I e abandoned as there will be no need to maintain it. An improvement of the gold values in the South Western
Section of Block T is evident at present as the workings approach the .Main Drive. No. 3 North Drive off No. 1 Main Drive: The fact of this drive is now past, the end of No. 2 Stope Drive East. Values have been low with occasional patches giving fair samples.
