HOKITIKA NOTES
[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT. J HOKITIKA, May 17. At a meeting of the Hokitika Chrysanthemum Society, held last evening, it was shown that a profit of £26 was made from the recent show and it was resolved to hand to the All Saints Church Committee the sum of £25. The Rev. H. J. Knights thanked the Society on behalf of the Church Committee. He made reference to the good work done by Mr. A. AV. Yarrall (secretary), and Mrs Yarrall, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded them.' Pleasure and congratulations were expressed to Mr. Fitzgerald, who obtained such success with his blooms at Hokitika and Greymouth. Mr. Fitzgerald thanked the members for their kind reference, and said he tended to continue the study and growth of chrysanthemums. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to Messrs. Arby and Day, of Nelson, who brought such a fine collection from that town. At. the fortnightly meeting of All Saints Young Men’s Club, last evening, there was a fair attendance, over which Rev. H. .1. W. Knights presided. The fare for the evening was a “Question Box,” when some of the problems of the day were put.
At the meeting of the Westland Rugby Football Sub-Union it was decided to endeavour to select a representative team to play at Greymouth on Wednesday, May 23.
