“When a. chap tells me he doesn't smoke —and he usually says it as if it were something to be proud of—l pity him. My pipe has long been a source of keen enjoyment, and a real help in time of trouble.” Thus “Bakeha,” in a Melbourne weekly, adding: “At. one time! thought I'd have to quit smoking. Nerves went all wrong. Doctor told me to change my tobacco, and I gradual}' recovered. The brand I formerly smoked was poisonous with nicotine, the doctor said. Of course nicotine is deadly on the nerves. I’m smoking toasted New Zealand now—splendid!—and almost, free from nicotine. That’s what toasting does! I like Cavendish, but there's four other toasted brands: Navy Cut: No. 3 (Bulldog), Riverhead Gold, Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead) and Desert Gold. They’re as sweet, as pure, and as fragrant as any tobacco that comes •cross the seas to us, and safer to smoke because they’re practcally without nicotine! New Zealanders are proud of their toasted tobacco—and well they may be! —Advt.
WAGES LOST. Ist Passenger: (reading paper) I see here that thousands and thousands of pounds are lost in wages each year through colds and ’flu. 2nd Passenger: I’m not surprised, but. if people would take more care it wouldn't cost half as much. I haven t lost a day through colds for years, although I got as many as most people. I make a point of taking Baxter s Lung Preserver at any sign of trouble. It pa vs in the end. “Baxter’s” saves you every time. Have it handy always. Get “Baxter’s” to-day. 1/6, 2/6, and 4/6, at all chemists and stores. —Advt.
