A further development associated with the action of the Bishop of the Diocese, Dr. Cherrington, in declaring the living of St. Andrew's vacant, is an instruction received from Bishop Ciierrington by Rev. Mr. Bell to vocate the Vicarage by June IL This morning Mr. Bell reiterated his contention that he is still Vicar 01, Cambridge until a ruling has been re-1 ccived by him from the Standing Com-' mission. In view of that, he will re-; main in residence at the Vicarage. ! Regarding the Sunday services. Mr. Bell expressed a. desire not to cause any unpleasantness in connection
[with unavoidable clash of services. Me i stated that lie had written to Rev. S. R. I Wareing. Vicar of Te Awamutu, and thanked him for taking the service at j Ohaupo to-morrow under the clrcumI slanc.es, this having been arranged by i the Bishop. He had also written to ■ the Bishop’s appointee at Tamahere ’for to-morrow morning, Rev. (.’. W. j Clark, and has advised him of his intention io bold a service at St. Step- , lion’s at 1 I a.m. i Rev. Mr. Clarke, resident, in CamI bridge, formerly as Assistant Curate of I St. Andrew's, has been appointed the | Bishop's surrogate to perform mari rhtgo.s in the parish hall. j Mr. Bell, having let the new Parish •Hall to St. Peter’s Catholic Church ■for a. dance, the parishioners’ annual : meeting tbo same night will have to be held in the old hall, which would be inadequate to hold the number pre- ' sent at previous meetings.
