PERSONAL NOTES
Mr. H. J. Fetch, Government Dairy Instructor, is visiting the West Coast. Captain E. Graham, who traded to Greymouth for many years, and who is retired, and resident in Nelson, is visiting Greymouth. Mr A. B. Lane, Manager of the N.Z. Press Association, is a passenger by the Makura, which left Sydney yesterday for Wellington. Passengers by yesterday’s express from Christchurch included: Mrs W. Seguin, Mr R. Anderson, Mr R. Haglund, Miss E. Parfitt. Miss M. McKenzie, Mr G. Loveridge. Mr F. W. Shallcrass, Mr M. Butterfield. The Minister of Public Works announced yesterday that it had been decided to appoint Mr E. L. Greensmith, of the Public Works Department to the Main Highways Board, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr J. J. Gibson. Mr Greensmith first joined the Public Works Department in 1915, since when he has held various positions in district offices as well as in branches of the Head Office. In 1928 he was appointed assistant accountant to the Department and for the last six months has acted as accountant. —Press Assn, j
