SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT. •. . . LONDON, March- 24: Miss Dorothy Esch, a film actress,: of Devonshire-terrace, W., was yesterday awarded £327. damages in. het- action against ..British ,and Dominions Corporation Ltd. in the King’s. .Bench Division. Mr, Justice Humphreys entered judgment accordingly, with costs. . . ........ i. Miss Escli’s.,claim, was for damages for personal injuries. ~S.he v caligd at the defendant’s film studios; at Elstree hoping to obtain an engagement in the film “Leap Year,” producedby Mr. Tom Walls. While standing at one side, while a scene was “shot-,.” ~ she was crushed against" a door by a taxicab, driven by a “comic cabman,” as part of the scene. Her left arm was broken. _ / Mr. Justice Humphreys, summingup, said IhO Him company’s case was that Miss Esch was a “trespasser” at the studios and that, it was hot their duty to take care of her. But even if a man. say, were a. trespasser on some premises, the owner hjust not. shoot, him or hit him over the head, or do anything which intentionally caused him an injury. ’Phe jury found for Miss Esch with damages as above.
