WOMAN’S STRANGE DEATH

ELBOW CAUGHT IN DRAWER.. [pee press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. Held captive for many hours, with her elbow stuck in the top drawer of a chest of drawers, Helen Maria Theakston. SO, single, a music teacher, of Worcester Street, met her death in a strange manner. It is believed that she fainted, while opening the drawer, before retiring on Tuesday evening, and that the pressure of her body closed the drawer on her arm, so that she could not release herself.

She was unconscious, when found yesterday afternoon. She was taken to the hospital, and died at seven o’clock this morning. She lived alone. A light was burning in the room, when a man employed in the garden came yesterday morning. He informed the police, who broke into the house. An inquest will be held.
