INSULL FRAUD CHARGES

FLIGHT FROM ATHENS [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] ATHENS, March 16. Samuel Insull was arrested aboard the Greek cargo boal Maiota. which was overhauled by a torpedo boat when headed for Port Said. Insull will now be handed over to the American authorities for extradition to the United States, where charges of extensive frauds will be preferred against him. NO ARREST MADE ATHENS, March 17. The Maiota has arrived here. It has been announced that, after compliance with formalities, Insull would be permitted to leave as soon as possible for Djibouti, en route for Abyssinia. Mrs. Insull hurried to the Ministry of the Interior and begged the Minister to send a rriessage to her husband saying that he , would not be handed over to. the American authorities. The Minister agreed to this, adding that. Insull could have an escort of police during his stay in port. However, the American legation, although informed of the Maiota’s arrival, took no action. LATER. Following an interview of the American Minister 'with the Greek Foreign Minister, it was decided that Emanuel Insull should return and stay in Greece for 24 hours, under supervision, and then be allowed to depart where he pleased. The Greek Government cancelled its ordei' for expulsion against his wife. BROTHER’S EXTRADITION TORONTO, March 16. Chief Justice Mulock has confirmed an extradition order against Martin Insull, who is wanted in Chjpago on similar charges to his brother Emanuel. Martin Insull has thus lost a seventeen months battle in which he fought his extradition in the High Court He is now being held for the United States authorities.
