GREYMOUTH OBSERVANCE.
To-day is St. Patrick’s Day, the feast day of the patron Saint of heland, and flags are flying on P 1 ’ 1 ”" 5 buildings in honour of the- event C tinuing the customary fejehi ations, a. procession took place this afternoon, to Victoria Park, where a sports me. ing is in progress. Considering counter attractions there is a fair crowd of country visitors m town l and green ribbon and rosettes and sprigs of shamrock are being worn. The procession, led by the Grey mouth Municipal Band, consisted of a tableau of Hibernia playing a liaip, and attended by Convent girls m lush national costume, members ot the senior and juvenile branches ot the Hibernian Society, Clergy, and Maris Brothers, and approximately four hundred pupils of the Marist and Convent Schools. The route of the procession was from St. Columba Hall, via Chapel and Tainui Streets, Mawhera. Quay, and Boundary Streets to the Park.
