The fortnightly sitting of the Warden’s Court was held yesterday, Mr H. Morgan presiding as Warden. The following cases were conducted: — Applications.—B. L. Patterson for ordinary prospecting license. —Granted. J. F. McNamara for ordinary prospecting license. —Granted subject to Forestry conditions. Alexander Mines Ltd., certificate of protection.—Granted for 12 months. Alexander Mines Ltd. for special site licenses.—Granted subject to Forestry conditions for 42 years. Alexander Mines Ltd. to alter course of water race license. —Recommended. F. Barry and F. Sutherland for ordinary prospecting license. — Granted. Wm. McKenzie and others for water race license. —Granted. Wm. McKenzie and others for special alluvial claim. —Granted. Wm. McKenzie and others for leave to amend description of water race.—Granted. J. E. Rhea and A. Smith foi' two ordinary prospecting licenses.—Granted. J. E. Rhea and A. Smith for ordinary prospecting license. Joseph Pfahlert for consent of Warden to enter upon private land to mark out a mining privilege.—Leave granted. J. E. Rhea and Allan Smith for ordinary prospecting license. —Granted. A. Walker and E. B. Comerford for ordinary prospecting license.—Granted. T. Barry and John Sutherland for water’ race license. —Granted. Mr and Mrs J. F. Wilson, of Christchurch are visiting Reef ton.
A meeting of the executive of the Reefton Boxing Club was held last evening, Mr J. B. Discacaiti presiding. The recommendation from the general meeting regarding the subscription was adopted., viz., under 18, 2/6; 18 and over 5/-. A letter was received from Hon. M. Fagan offering every assistance to obtain the money at present held in the Savings Bank. The secretary was instructed to communicate with the Grey Association regarding affiliation. A meeting was held in the gymnasium last evening. There was a fail* attendance. It was a general meeting to discuss the coming season of Rugby football in Reefton. Mr J. Crossman was voted to the chair. He broached the question of affiliation with the West Coast Union. He pointed out that the Rugby Union had a lean time in the 1933 season, but the Union
had worked well and had paid out a considerable sum of money. This was certainly a credit to the Union. The gymnasium offered fine opportunity for training, and it was to be hoped that full use would be made of the building during the forthcoming season, and that football would take on a
new lease of life (his season. It was resolved that the clubs in Reefton be requested to convene their meetings as soon as possible, with a view to making an early start with games. , At. the sitting of the assessment Court the following cases were heard: Thos. Ball, objection for assessment in Maruia Riding.—Valuation td stand. Alexander Mines Ltd. objection to assessment in Antonio’s Riding.—Adjourned to March 29. P. Mitchell, objection to valuation in Antonio’s Riding.—Adjourned to March 20. I
