DAMAGES AWARDED. [PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, February 10. Damages of £355/9/6 were awarded to Edward Herbert .Brooker, a motor engineer, Wellington, by a jury in the Supreme Court, in a claim arising out \of a collision between a motor-cycle and a motor-car at the corner of ParkVale Road and Friend Street, Karori, on June 21, 1933. Brooker, rider of the motor-cycle, took proceedings against Alfred Allen Hewitt, a clerk, alleging negligence, and suing for £152/6/6 special damages and £ 1000 general damages. The jury returned a majority verdict after four hours’ retirement, holding that The effective cause of the accident was the negligence of the defendant.
