HIBERNIAN SOCIETY
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Greymouth Hibernian Society was held last evening, there being a large attendance. The election of officers for the ensuing six months resulted':—President, Bro. A. Greaney; vice-president, Bro. M. J. Phillips jun.; secretary, Bro. M. G. Kelly (re-elected); treasurer, Bro. M. Brown; warden, Bro. M. Mcßride; guardian, Bro. J. Dowdall; sick visitors, Bros. P. Dwyer (reelected) and Bro. A. Anisy; auditors, Bros. P. Blanchfleld and J. McSherry; juvenile superintendent, Bro. W. Greenhill (re-elected). After the meeting the members were entertained at a social, at which the following toasts were honoured:— “The Newly-elected Officers,’’ proposed by Bro. Clarke, and responded to by the officers; “The New Zealand District Council,” proposed by the President, and responded to by Bros. Greenhill, McGurk and Mcllroy; “The juvenile Branch,” proposed by Bro. Dwyer and responded to by Bro. Greenhill; “The Greymouth Branch,” proposed by Bro. A. M. Carroll and responded to by the President; “The West Coast Provincial Council,” proposed by Bro. Mcllroy and responded to by Bros. Clarke, Greenhill and Kelly; “The Retiring Treasurer,” proposed by Bro. Clarke and responded to by Bro. Mcllroy. During the evening items were contributed by Bros. P. Blanchfield junr., Henderson, F. Blewman, Phillips, McBride, and Dowdall. The gathering concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
