NEGRO LYNCHED
MOB LAW FOLLOWS ACQUITTAL.

NEW YORK, December 16.
A message from Columbia, Tennessee, states that a negro youth, Cord Check, was lynched to-day after being discharged by the Grand Jury on a charge of attacking a young white girl. His body was found hanged to a tree. The officials knew nothing of the lynching until notified afterwards by telephone. Apparently a small band executed the hanging without bothering to arouse the countryside.
