RUNANGA NOTES

[OUK OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The Girls’ Club held their final evening for the season at the Presbyterian Hall, there being a good attendance. The Christmas tree was the centre of attraction, and was gaily decorated and laden with gifts. Various games and competitions resulted: —Fancywork competition for the best Christmas gift, Miss M. Maddison: wordbuilding, Miss M. Tyson; lucky name, Miss M. Maddison; lucky seat, Miss M. Maddison; balancing competition, Misses E. Davison and M. Clark. It was decided that the competition for next meeting to be held in February be a, gift for the club, to the value of 2/-. The hostesses for the evening were Misses Clark and Boddy, who provided supper.. Mr and Mrs R. McTaggart have left on a holiday visit to Timaru and J-lanmer. Prior to their approaching' marriage, Miss Peg Thompson and Mr Harold Ennor were tendered a gift evening on Saturday night at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. Farquhar. The hostesses were Mesdames Watson and Winstanley. Several of those present spoke of the high esteem in which the couple were held and wished them every success in the future. Mr Ennor responded and thanked those present for the many beautiful gifts. The evening ’ was spent in musical items, games, and dancing, Mr Ennor giving an exhibition of “tap” dancing. Games were won by Misses Thompson and Richmond and Mrs W. Timlin.
