CONVICTS PLAY CHESS

PARKHURST PRISON MATCH. LONDON, October 29. A chess mutch was played in Parkhurst Prison yesterday between the “Gentlemen of Parkhurst”—a team of prisoners—and seven of the best players in the Isle of Wight. The prisoners were defeated by nine games Io six. The visiting team included a solicitor, a doctor, a bank manager, a tailor, and an ironmonger.
