(BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] LOTTERY PRIZE. SYDNEY, December 8. The third prize of £3OO in to-day’s New South Wales State lottery was won by the “G.G. Syndicate,” Wellington (N.Z.). VICTORIAN FLOOD. MELBOURNE, December 8. The flood menace is causing great alarm at Keran'g, where earth embankments have been erected for one and a-half miles on the western side of the town to meet flood waters which are rising. Two churches and. a State school are thus marooned. Seven houses are. flooded. All-night vigils are being kept, as a big flood is expected to-morrow. APPEAL DISMISSED. SYDNEY, December 9. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by Australian Brokerage Limited' against the previous dismissal of allegations of misrepresentation in connection with a contract under which appellant was to be the sole selling broker for the AustraliaNew Zealand Banking Corporation, Limited. The case was very involved, and had been before various Courts since 1931. NAVAL RUMOURS. CANBERRA, December 7. • The Assistant Minister of Defence (Mr Francis) denies rumours of disaffection among the crews of the destroyer flotilla voyaging to Australia and now at Darwin. It was alleged that the victualling had been defective, and the men were without meat, as a large quantity of beef was jettisoned to prevent it going bad in the intense heat. The ships leave for Brisbane today, and will' probably secure fish by using depth charges, when they get to sea.
