The Flour Tax Bill, imposing £4 1/- per ton, has passed all stages in the Senate. x Senator Batman (South Australia) declared that in some States the bakers would make an extra farthing per two pound loaf if the price of bread iwere raised one penny, and the bakers in all of the States except New South Wales would make £300,000 additional profit. HOUSEWIVES’ BOYCOTT. SYDNEY, December 8. The Housewives’ Association is organising a boycott of the bakers if bread prices are increased. The Housewives’ leader states that inquiries made among the bakers showed they would be able to make a profit at fourpence per loaf over the counter.
