I Counsel explained that Mrs. Hulse married Frank Hulse, now a milk deal- , er in Winnipeg, atTalke, Staffordshire, f in 1904. She obtained a separation | order against him at Tunstall in 1910 . on tho ground of cruelty, ami he then I left her for Canada. Nothing was | heard of him for 20 years. ■ In tho meantime Mrs. Hulse met Powell and told him of her marriage, | and that sho had not seen her husband for over 20 years. After oonsulling solicitors as Io the legality ol the proceedings they went through a lorn:., of marriage in April, 1930, being satisfied that. Hulse was dead. I Differences occurred between Mil -Hulse and her second “husband,” and she obtained a maintenance order against him, also at Tunstall. alien Powell began to hear rumours that the first husband, Hulse, was alive, and it was ascertained that he was carrying cm a milk business in Winnipeg. A decree nisi was granted m the High Court, on January 26 last, anil made absoltue on August 9, on the ground that Mrs. Hulse’s first husband was alive, and was alive itt the time ol the marriage ceremony between hei and Powell. Counsel for Powell then applied to the magistrates for the discharge of the maintenance, order made against his client. The magistrates consented to this course.
