i The young daughter* of Mr. and Mrs Joseph Bolitho was taken ill at Alexander Mine on Tuesday, and the need for medical attention became urgent. It was therefore decided to come to Reefton. and a start was made from the mine at 4 p.m. The father and mother set out. with two men helpers and the trip to the Reefton Hospital was accomplished in 3i hours, despite the rough nature of the country traversed. The value of the Stevenson’s Flat—Alexander Track was thus definitely proved. The trip via Snowy Creek would have taken another four hours travelling, at least.
