LIBEL BY FILM?
RUSSIAN PRINCESS’S CLAIM.
[BY CABLE PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.]
NEAA’’ YORK, October 27
Princess Irian Yousoupouff, the wife of Prince Felix Yousoupouff, who, in legal papers, is said to be the cousin of King George V., the ex-Kaisei' and of the late Czar, has filed a two million dollar libel suit against the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Film Corpo.ration, the producer of the picture "Rasputin and the Empress.” The Princess alleges that one character of this motion picture, that of Princess Natash, who in the film introduces the Monk into the Czar’s household, and then becomes his mistress, is so thinly veiled that people throughout the world have recognised the character as herself. She further charges that the foreword of the film deciares: “Few of the characters are still alive. The rest have met their death by violence,” and that she and her husband are the only ones involved in the action who are now living.
