OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. “Flesh” a red-blooded wrestling drama, featuring Wallaee Beery and | a splendid supporting cast, will be screened this evening. SUNDAY NIGHT. “What Price Hollywood!” will be screened Sunday night. Proceeds will be devoted to the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund. BLACKBALL—-TO-NIGHT. “If I Had a Million,” is the feature for Blackball to-night, and “Flesh” Sunday night. RUNANGA—TO-NIGHT. “Fast Life” will be screened at Runanga to-night, and “Secrets of the French Police,” and “Once a Lady” Sunday night. WALLSEND —SUNDAY. “Fast Life” will be screened at Wallsend Sunday night. WAIUTA—TO-NIGHT. “When London Sleeps” will be screened at Waiuta to-night, and “Call Her Savage” Sunday. SCHAEF’S HALL—TO-NIGHT. The old-time dance at Schaef’s Hall to-night will be under the auspices of the Cobden Soccer Clu,b, and a good time is assured all lovers of old-time dancing. Mr Bert Petrie will be in charge of the floor, and the Gaiety Orchestra will supply the music. HALLOWE’EN INGLESIDE The annual Ingleside to celebrate Hallowe’en was held by the Grey Caledonian Society last evening when the children of members were suitably entertained and the usual Hallowe’en observances were featured. A large number of the children appeared in fancy dress, some striking out on original lines,’ whilst others kept to those more time honoured, the galaxy of colour and variety of dress creating a pleasing effect. The programme for* the evening was carried out by Messrs L. Anderson and A. Lane who kept the ball rolling to the end of the evening. The feature of the evening was the grand march by those in fancy dress which was effectively done, and 'during which the prize winners were selected. The awards made were as follows:— Five years and under: Best dressed boy, lan Wright (Little Lord Fauntelroy); girl, V. Paterson (Egyptian), most original costume, Halford Ash'ton (golfer). Seven years and under: Best dressed boy, Gilmour McLean (Indian); girl, Joy Paterson (Red Riding Hood). Ten years and under: Best dressed boy, K. Learmont (Prince Charming), girl, F. McLean (Cinderella); most original, boy, V. Rouse (cat and the fiddle); girl, Jocelyn Rouse (Hawaiian). Twelve years and under: Most original boy, Colin Rouse (Pirate); girl, Margaret Ashton (traffic regulations), Special prizes were awarded to Colin Crooks and M. Maxwell (bride and bridegroom), and J. and J. Blocksage (Early Victorian and partner). During the evening items were rendered by Joy Paterson (recitation), lan Wright (song), Flow McLean (recitation), Ruth Stewart (hornpipe), V. and J. Rouse (duet), all of which were warmly applauded. A hidden treasure hunt was won by R. Leitch. The girls’ bun-eating contest was won by Nancy McKane, with Ruth Stewart second. The time honoured “Lookin’ for apples” was won byP. Hambleton, the event causing much amusement as the various competitors made vigorous but ineffectual efforts to secure an apple. After supper had been served, the event being the most popular item for the children, the evening was brought to a conclusion, all joining in singing Auld Lang Syne and the National ■ Anthem. !
