DAMAGE ON EAST COAST [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Rec. October 28, 9 a.m.) LONDON, October 27. During an East Coast gale, causing the worst storm for twenty-four years, hundreds of tons of cliff collapsed at Lowestoft, sending gardens tumbling into the sea, and leaving houses ■within a few feet of the cliff , edge. Thirty feet waves washed the roof off the pier pavilion at Scarborough, where the seafront is littered with chimney pots and tiles. Cridlington Bay is crowded with sheltering ships.
