ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION
BYRD’S SUPPLY SHIP.

BAYONNE (New Jersey), Oct. 13
To the tune of grinding winches, and the howls of 150 sled dogs, with the mooing of two cows, which are to supply Byrd’s expedition with fresh milk, the Jacob Ruppert, Byrd’s supply ship, cast off for the Antarctic today. There are also aboard two cats, 600,000 cigarettes, 587 tooth brushes, 15 tons of sugar, two -snow ploughs, an autogyro yacht, eight radios, and 31,000 bottles, of beer.
DISCOVERY H’s. TRIP.
LONDON, October 13
The Royal research ship, Discovery the Second is due to sail from England on October 20 on her way to South Georgia. She will call at the isolated island of Tristan de Cunha, which is well off the ordinary shipping routes. She will carry letter mails for the island and a limited quantity of stores, which have been contributed by public generosity.
