[our own correspondent.] REEFTON, August 17. A meeting was held in the Reefton District High School, to discuss, the question of forming an Old Pupils’ Association. Mr. W. S. Pratt, Headmaster, presided

Mr. H. Campbell moved that an Old Pupils’ Association be formed. Mr. W. G. Wills seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The chairman tabled a set of rules which governed the work of several Old Pupils’ Associations. It was resolved that the Association be called the Reefton District High School Old Pupils’ Association, and that the officers be Patron, President, two Vice-Presidents, hon. secretary, hon. treasurer, and hon. auditor, and a committee of 10 members, five ladies and five men, and that eligibility for membership include any person who was a past pupil of the Reefion District High School, primary or secondary departments, or any pupil of any recognised High School or any secondary district school. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. W. B. Auld; President, Mr. W. S. Pratt; Vice-Presidents, Messrs. H. Campbell and A. G. Well.'.; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Crossman; auditor, Mr. W. F. Bett; committee, Misses Kearns, King, Panckhurst, I. McKane, Messrs Brett, Prentice, Dellaca, Clarke, K. Auld. It was resolved that an opening social function be held. Considerable enthusiasm was shown at the meeting at which some 40 were, present. Miss Sunderland, of Wellington, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs Patterson, Walsh Street.

Mr. C. McElwee received a gash in the left leg on Tuesday afternoon, while at work at the slaughter house. In its last struggles a bullock struck the knife, driving the blade into the leg, just above McElwee’s ankle bone Fortunately the knife missed the sinews. The'injured man will be off work for some time. Nurse I. Mclntosh, of the Buller Hospital staff, is spending a short holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs R. Mclntosh, Reefton. At the weekly meeting of the Inangahua Rugby sub-Union, Mr. T. C. Hepburn presided. Referees’ reports of Sunday’s matches were read and approved. The following fixtures were arranged for August 20: —Cobden v. Inangahua, senior; Cobden Third Grade v. Inangahua Third Grade. A letter was received from Lake Brunner Sub-Division and it was resolved to invite games, senior and junior, from that area, on September 3; also that all schools be notified that no boy playing in school competitions which are controlled by local Rugby Unions, is eligible to play both Rugby and League at the same time, without disqualification, this being a ruling of the New Zealand Union. Messrs. Archer and Crossman reported on the meeting held with the League delegates, regarding the Racecourse playing ground.
