STOCK EMBARGO

A TEMPORARY COMPROMISE [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, August 17. Tn a statement to-day, Mr. MacMillan (Minister of Agriculture) intimated a reduction of the period from six months to three months, had been decided upon as the period that stock, purchased in the United Kingdom, must spend in an intermediate country, through which they were introduced into New Zealand. All existing precautions of health certificates, quarantine in England, before shipment, and quarantine in an intermediate country, and in New Zealand after arrival, would continue. After Mr. Forbes and Mr. Masters return, the question of direct shipments will be gone into and in the event of any suggestions being formulated, stock owners will be given full opportunity to consider them, and express opinions.
