Galloping MEETINGS TO COME. Aug. 19. —Pakuranga Hunt . Aug. 19.—Egmont- Wanganui. Sept. 2. —Taranaki Hunt. Sept. 2.—Otago Hunt. Sept. 13.—Marton. Sept. 16.—Ashburton. Sept. 21, 23.—Wanganui. Sept. 21, 23. —Geraldine. Sept. 30. —Kurow. Sept. 30.—Napier Park . Chrysology: Has a good turn of speed, but the company he met last week was a bit too rich for him. He should prove more than useful. Worship: A lot of support came for Worship in the Redcliffs Handicap, but a mile proved a bit beyond him. He will do better when more seasoned to go the distance. Charmaine: Charmaine is on the improve, and should be found returning to winning form at the spring meetings. Beacon Fire: Beacon Fire is at his best in soft going, and the firm track at Riccarton did not suit him. Cottesmore: Won two races at Riccarton in fine style, and should be a profitable horse to follow during the season. At present h© is good up to seven furlongs.
Croupier: One race appeared to take the steel out of Croupier, and he did not shape with any dash in his second race at Riccarton. A brief spell should soon bring him into shape for a sound preparation.
Polydora: Is too slow on her legs at the rise of tho barrier to shine over sprint courses in good cofnpany. She stays ilell, and will be best suited when running over more ground than a mile.
Speakeasy: Looked a sure winner when lie ran off at the second last jump in the Aylesbury Steeples. He is regarded as one of the coming ’chasers, and fills the eye in that respect.
’ Hounslow: Put up an exceptionally good performance at the Grand National meeting by winning the Trial Hurdles, the Grand National Hurdles, and Sydenham Hurdles. Prince of Orange: Had an unlucky trip to Riccarton. Ho ran off the course when in the lead in the Grand National Hurdles, and fell at the final flight in the Sydenham Hurdles when racing with the leaders. Luna Lux: Stripped brightest of any ’chaser saddled at the end of the Grand National week. Thurina also stripped well. Billy Boy and Callamart looked a. bit light at the finish, and also overweighted. Lucess showed improved form and also gave a good display of fencing. Rasouli: After winning tho Styx Hurdles Rasouli was purchased by Mr H. Elworthy, the owner of Barrington, and will probably be trained by E. J. Ellis at Washdyke. Rasouli will continue to add to his success over hurdles, as he is not deficient in pace. Thurina: Is claimed to be one of the best jumpers ever seen at Riccarton. Bert Ellis holds a very high opinion of the Thurnham gelding, and rates him next to Pamplona as the best he has ever ridden over fences. WINOOKA AND TEA TRADER. [by CABLE —PRESS ASS?!. —COPYRIGHT.] SEATTLE, August 13. Neither Winooka, who was scheduled to gallop through a stretch, nor Tea Trader, appeared on the track. Without satisfactory opposition in sight, Tea Traders” hackers said that he held out for an expected race later in the week. Winooka’s training has been held up by a slight cough on Saturday night and early on Sunday morning, which other horses at the Longacres track have also been suffering from. It might be necessary to postpone the Winooka match with Onrush for a week. A decision on this point will be reached' later in the week. Tea Trader did not run on Sunday.
