A net revenue from fire, marine and accident premiums of £1,008,530 compared with £1,050,351 in the previous year, is shown in the ninety-fifth annual report of the New Zealand Insurance Company, for the year ended on May 31. The directors propose a final dividend of Is a share, making 2s a share for the year, the same rate as in the previous year. The surplus account was £14,004, to which is added the net income from interests and rents, £120,044, making a total of £194*648. With the balance brought forward, £185,205, less the dividend at the rate of Is a share paid in August, 1932, £75,000, the total available for distribution is £304,853. ALEXANDER MINES. The Alexander Mines report for July states that in No. 3 south drive (eastern block) driving was continued and the reef exposed for a length of 78ft. For the last 20ft driven south, the lode has been small, averaging about 15 inches in width and lying very flat. There is still a small reef going south but this can be stoped out later from the intermediate below. No. 3 intermediate north face has been driven to 120 ft north of the winze. Several boulders of stone were passed through but no stone of a permanent nature has been discovered. No. 4 north drive has been extended to a distance of 282 ft north of the main crosscut. In the early part of the month a fair amount of broken stone was passed through, but latterly no stone has been showing. The country in the face at present is very hard. A crosscut has been put out in the western wall 18ft, and although the country is good no stone was passed through. Stoping was carried on as usual above and below No. 3 level north. The second stope on the eastern block has been risen for, and taken off, the reef in the back being from 4 to 8 feet in width. The stone is lengthening fast on the north end and also improving in width. Prospecting work from the stopes is also being carried out on this end, several large boulders of stone to the eastward of the stopes being discovered. A supplementary report states reef has been intersected in No. 3 north drive (eastern block). This drive is driven out Bft to the eastward of the Eastern Block and a strong body of ore has been discovered* The stone has been driven, into for four feet without the eastern wall showing. The stone is clean and solid, and is going strong underfoot. Gold is showing in (he stone.
