RUGBY FOOTBALL
BULLER v. WEST COAST. At this week’s meeting of the Buller Rugby Union, it was resolyed that the West Coast. Union he advised that it was regretted the request for the playing of the home-and-home match between Buller and West Coast, at Hokitika, could not be acceded to. BROADCASTING
[TO TTIE EDITOR.] Sir—The local Rugby Union meets this evening, and will no doubt discuss the matter of broadcasting. If 1 know Mr ’Pom Ryan at all, then I know that he. will not let up on this matter until justice is done. Broadcasting has been the means of placing within th© hearing of those unable to attend, a little knowledge as to how the game is going. Surely the Rugby sports are not going to debar the old people and invalids from hearing how the important matches are going. Then again, you have people away from Greymouth who will want to know how their team is getting along on August 5 next. Now, Mr .Guy, along with your followers, give this matter a little further' consideration and discussion, when I feel sure you will come to the conclusion that impclrtant matches .should be broadcasted in the interest of the sport generally. 1 would further say that nothing will kill Rugby quicker than to make it a closed down policy. —Yours etc., BEWARE OF LEAGUE.
