WELLINGTON, July 3. Continuing his argument in the Court of Appeal case, the Inspector of Awards v. Hellaby Ltd., Mr Stevenson referred to the provisions under the principal act of 1925, whereby an industrial agreement was binding, only on the parties subscribing to it, and he stressed the absurdity of the Conciliation Council acting under the 1932 amendment, purporting to make agreement binding on dissenting parties. WOMAN DROWNED. WHANGAREI, July 3. A drowning accident occurred at Maungonui Bluff, 50 miles from Kaitaia, on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Powell, with another woman and the latter’s child, had came from Takahue on a short camping visit. As Mr. and Mrs. Powell were walking across a depression on the beach, a sudden high wave swept in and overwhelmed them. Mr. Powell managed to cling to the rocks, but Mrs Powell was carried away in the boiling surf. No trace of her body has been discovered, despite protracted searches.

Mrs. PoAvell leaves four young children. Her reside in the Waikato district.
