WALKER V. PEREIRA. [pee pbess association.] AUCKLAND, July 2. A hasty decision by the referee in awarding a submission fall to George Walker in the final round ot his wrestling contest with Al Pereira, the heavyweight champion of Portugal, on Saturday evening, gave the first-named a victory. Up to this incident, no falls had been registered, and a draw appeared to be likely, with the honours in favour of TPereira. The ieghth round had not long been in progress before Walker angled toi a boston crab. He stepped over, Preparatory to exerting pressure, but leieira was not flat out. He was lying on his side. Anxious to avoid punishment for Pereira, the referee hastened to push Walker off his opponent. Pereira shook his head as a signal that he did not intend to submit, but the referee had already patted Walker on the back.
