IKAMATUA NOTES

[our own correspondent.] A grand ball was held in the Ikamatua Public Hall on Friday night, under the management of the local Hall Committee, the proceeds to go to the Inangahua Hospital. The hall was artistically decorated with ribbons and maidenhair ferns, and the floor was in perfect order. There was a large crowd present, and an enjoyable evening was spent. The music was suplied by Steel’s Orchestra, and Mr H. Steel was in charge of the floor. The members of the Women’s Institute served a dainty supper. Mr J. B. Auld (chairman of the Hospital Board) thanked all those who assisted to make the ball a success, especially thanking the Ikamatua Hall Committee for organising it. lie stated that at no time was the Board more in need of assistance than at present, owing to so much unemployment about. Men were continually passing through Reefton and wanting assistance in the matter of food and clothing, and this was a great drain on the Board’s finance. Therefore, any funds donated would be most thankfully appreciated. The Board had been able during the last twelv e months to greatly reduce the running costs of the Hospital withoutinterfering with the efficiency of the institution.
