CASHMERE HILLS TRAGEDY. [PEB PBES9 ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, July 2. . A man walking on Cashmere Hills this morning, discovered the dead body of a woman lying at the base of a rocky cliff, but the body has not yet been identified. The woman was fully clothed, with the exception of a hat, and she had apparently been dead some days. The woman’s age is estimated at about 60 years. Her height was five feet six inches. She was of medium build, and had grey hair. A railway left luggage ticket was found on the body, and with it, a constable secured from the station a suitcase containing travelling requirements, and handkerchiefs, bearing the initial “E.L.M.” The suit case was left in the station on June 19. The police have no suspicion of foul play. "CHRISTCHURCH, July 3The body of the woman found dead in a gully at Cashmere Hills, yesterday, has been identified as that of Eleanor L. Montgomery, 60, private school teacher. She had been living with friends in Cambridge Terrace. There was no sign of violence. LORRY PASSENGERS INJURED. AUCKLAND, July 2. Two persons were admitted to the hospital as the result of a motoring accident on the Great North Road, two miles north of Henderson, this evening. The victims were Mrs Phoebe Judd, aged 80 years, of Eltham, and her daughter, Mrs Jessie Collett, of Swanson. Both suffered concussion and abrasions.

They were in the cab of a motor truck, being driven by Ernest Collett, to Swanson. The vehicle swerved suddenly off a metal road, and jumped a three foot bank on to the footway, and, after striking a power pole, carried away several posts of a wire fence. The truck was extensively damaged, the bodywork and cab being shattered. The Colletts had with them a young child, who escaped injury.

BABY DROWNED. BLENHEIM, July 3. The body of Harry Gray, a two-year-old Native child, son of Dan Gray, of Wairau Pah, who had been missing since June 6, was recovered from the Wairau River, last night. PORIRUA CRASH. WELLINGTON, July 3, A formal verdict was returned today, at the inquest on four persons killed in the Porirua level mossing tragedy on May 21. Coroner Gilbertson said it was impossible for the driver of the engine to avoid the accident, and he was in no wise blameable. The flashlights and other warning devices must have been clearly visible to the car driver.

TRAIN KILLS MOTORISTS. PERTH, July 2. A level crossing accident at East Perth resulted in a passenger train smashing a motor car. Myles Lyons and his two sons, Donald and Peter, were killed. His wife, Margaret Lyons, and two others sons, Frank and John and also Norman Davenport, and Kathleen Pearson were injured. The motor car spun through the air, spilling the occupants in all directions. Mr Lyons and his wife were going to a football match, and the others were on an excursion to the country.
