ROTARY CONFERENCE
AN INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] BOSTON, June 29. The Rotary International has cabled the London Conference expressing the hope that the work of the Conference will be crowned with success. The Convention adopted a proposal that officers of areas shall be elected at the Annual Convention, and also authorised, the directors to assist in sponsoring a world conference to choose Esperanto, or another language, as an auxiliary tongue to be taught in State schools. Mr. Frank Milner, New Zealand, in the course of an address, declared that the school teachers of the world ought to be nationally instead of sectionally minded.
LONG DISTANCE TROPHY. (Recd. July 1, 9 a.m.) BOSTON, June 30. Shortly before the International Rotary Convention to-day the silver loving Cup was awarded to Ballarat (Victoria) Rotary Club for winning the attendance trophy, having travelled the farthest distance to and from the Convention, an aggregate of 38,109 miles.
