Mr J. E. Williams left, to-day, on return to Wellington.

Mr I. Johnston. left, to-day, on re turn to Dunedin.

Mrs D. Strong left by to-day’s express on return to Christchurch.

Mr A. Hayman left, to-day, on return to Christchurch.

Mr N. Rathbun, who has been on a holiday visit to Greymouth, left this morning, on return to Christchurch.

Miss R. Simmonds was a passenger by this morning’s express to Christchurch.

The death took place to-day of Mr James Gibson, at Reefton. He was a Justice of the Peace, and an exmanager of the “Inangahua Times.”

Guests at Revington’s include:— Messrs F. W. Bostock, W. Wrighl (Christchurch), D. T. Bloxham (Wei lington).

Mr P. K. R. Whitehouse, who has been relieving master at the Greymouth Technical School, left, this morning, on return to Timaru.

Mr G. Duggan, Chief Inspector of Mines, left to-day, for Wellington, after an official visit to the West Coast.

Mr. L. Wilson, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilson, of Runanga, left by to-day’s express, on his return to Canterbury College.

Th# death occurred on Thursday at Dunedin, of Mr Thomas Reid, a retired Post and Telegraph Department officer, aged 79 years. The deceased, who had no relatives in New Zealand, was chief clerk at the Greymouth Post Office, over 20 years ago. He had lived at Dunedin since his retirement from the Department. The funeral will take place at Karoro on Monday, leaving Holy Trinity Church, at 10 a.m. ;

Mr R. S. Latta, of Auckland, yesterday completed 40 years’ service with the Government Life Insurance Office, and is retiring on superannuatibn. The manager of the Auckland branch since 1924, Mr Latta was educated at. Auckland Grammar. School, as the Rawlings and Junior National scholar, at the same time, as Mr H. J. D. Mahon,- now the headmaster, and the late Mr James Drummond, ' the immediate past headmaster. For the last 30 years, Mr Latta has been in charge of branches. The only break in continuity of service was a year spent at the South African War. He was in the Greymouth office for 15 years,, and was transferred to /Hamilton in, 1921. 'ln Greymouth, he was a member of the Jockey Club and the Caledonian Society, and in Hamilton he was the President of the Waikato Racing Club.—“ Star” Special ‘ Service. / '
