GREYMOUTH V. HOKITIKA. At the Omoto links over the weekend, in the annual match for the Caliari and Field Cups, the Greymouth B team defeated the Hokitika B team. Only the singles matches counted for the cups, and the results were:—Men —Greymouth 12, Hokitika 4; Ladies— Greymouth 5, Hokitika 3. The totals in all matches were: Greymouth 25, Hokitika 11. Prior to the match, Mr. W. Meldrum, President of the local Club, welcomed the visitors, for whom Mr. Brown (secretary) replied. Messrs. Garde (Greymouth) and Baker (Hokitika) also spoke. AMATEUR WINS U.S.A. TITLE. NEW YORK, June 9. A message from Glenview, states that John Goodman, an amateur, took the lead in the National Open Golf Championship with a brilliant 66, under par. Foi’ 36 holes his total was 141. Ar-; mour took 143, Kirkwood 144, Hagen dropped back to 149. NEW YORK, June 10.. Goodman won the National Open Golf Championship with a score for 287. Hagen and Armour tied for third with 292 each, and Kirkwood tied for seventh with 296.
