ARMISTICE DEVELOPMENTS. [BY* CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] PEKIN, June 9. While it will probably take some time to liquidate the military situation. a, genuine effort to carry the Tungku Armistice into effect appears to be under way. A noticeable instance of the improved feeling was the arrival at Pekin of a Japanese aeroplane carrying an officer detailed by the Japanese army to offer condolences over the Chinese loss of life in the recent hostilities. Meanwhile the foreign despatches report that the Japanese troops have begun withdrawing northward from Chinwangtao. On the Chinese side, rapid progress is reported in the work of winding up the war time organisations and the transferring cf troops back to the provinces.
