NEW STYLE SWAGMAN
SUITCASES INSTEAD OF SWAGS ALBURY, June 1. Interstate motorists declare that the old-time swagman is steadily disappearing off the roads. So many of this class have been sent to gaol for travelling on trains without tickets that u new plan has been adopted to avoid detection. This involves the abandonment of the time-honoured swag, and the substitution of a suit case. ' Experience has shown Hie men of the tiack that motorists never heeded men with swags when hailed for a lift along the road, but when men, sometimes accompanied by their wives, appeared on (lie track with the emblem of respectability—th : suit case--they almost invariably secured a lift. The new custom lias now become almost general, and it is remarked that wives are accompanying their out-of-work husbands in surprising numbers.
