INDIAN AGED 130
“MAN WHO NEVER SLEPT.” BOMBAY, February 20. A man 130 years old, who is popularly believed never to have slept, figures in the official returns o£ the Central Provinces census. The superintendent in charge of the census refers to two extraordinary cases of longevity. The first is the man mentioned, and the second a
shopkeeper, aged 110, who still reads the Koran daily. Both cases are believed to be authentic. The superintendent adds: “The older man’s case has been investigated closely by the Nagpur census officer, and is declared locally to be 150. He claims Io remember the second Mysore War and the submission of Sultan Tippoo.” | Even allowing for considerable exaggeration, the man’s age must be 130. Until 1918 the man was not in the habit of going to bed, a short nap in a chair being sufficient for him.
