OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde,” presented to a large attendance at the Opera House last evening, is a remarkable picture and one that should not be missed. This classic of classics, will be shown to-night tor the last time. A Fox News, showing the second cricket test, Australia v. England, will also be shown. WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. “Bachelors’ Affairs” with Adolphe Menjou in the leading role, will be screened at Wednesday’s matinee, evening and Thursday. M. 8.0.8. BALL.

The annual ball of the Marist Football Club will be held at Schaef’s Hall on Monday evening (Easter Monday). Excellent preparations have been made for this popular annual fixture, and patrons are assured of a good evening’s enjoyment. Steel’s and Williams’ orchestras will supply continuous music. The floor, which is receiving a special preparation, will be in charge of two M’s.C. Excellent supper catering is in the hands of an excellent ladies’ committee under the supervision of Mrs Grogan. Buses will run from Runanga, returning after the ball.

JOHN BROWNLEE. Music lovers in Greymouth next month will welcome one of the great singers of the present day,' John Brownlee, who, at the early age of thirty-two years, has already made a big name for himself in three continents. Judging by the amazingly fine Press critiques in the north, New Zealand lias already taken John Brownlee to its heart, for, although the singer has given only seventeen concerts to date in the Dominion, he is already being inundated with requests foi* return concerts. All the critics refer to the charming youthfulness of the three artists—Mr Brownlee, Miss Rita Miller (who is the soprano of the party), and the brilliant pianist, Mr Raymond Lambert. NELSON CREEK BALL. A grand ball will be held in the Nelson Creek Hall on Saturday, April 22. Proceeds in aid of school funds. Music will be supplied by the wellknown Diggers’ Orchestra. CARNIVAL DANCE TO-NIGHT. A carnival dance to further the interests of the Business Queen will be held at Herb. Moore’s to-night. A good supper will be supplied, and Steel’s Orchestra will supply the music. RUNANGA DANCE. A dance is to be held by the Unemearly next month in the Miners’ Hall. Dancing patrons are assured of a splendid night’s entertainment, and parties are being expected from the surrounding districts.
