INCOME-TAX FORMS
more information wanted. Amended income-tax forms to provide for legislation passed last session of Parliament, are clearer than the old forms. The first new provision gives effect to the bachelor tax, and married men eye with satisfaction the heading “Claim bv Married Man in respect of his Wife.” This asks for the full Christian name of the wife living with or supported by the man: for the date of marriage if married 'since March 31, 1932; particulars as to whether one is a widower or divorcee; and information as to whether the wife has an income of £5O or over annually. In the first portion of the form one has to state whether one was married or single as at March 31 last. A change is made in respect of income from dividends from companies trading in New Zealand. These must be stated in New Zealand currency. Taxpayers now have to state the value of quarters, board, and sustenance allowances made by their employers, for thtis amount now is part of the assessable income. The income front dividends from companies or concerns tile head office of which is outside the British- Empire has to be set down specifically _ now, instead of coming under the heading of income “from any other source.” This income has always been taxable, but it is desired to make it specific. In connection with income from Government and local body securities not free of income tax, one has to state the gross income tax in one schedule and the amount of stamp duty paid in tb,e exemption section.
